The Fike Family

Several years ago, we felt that God was leading us to start a homeschool bookstore, but the time was not right. We briefly talked with Mr. Fred, the owner of the Christian Outlet, a few times.
In June, we decided to step out in faith. We planned to start on our own with new curriculum, and take consignment as it came in, but the day that we paid the first month’s rent, Mr. Fred called to see if we were still interested in buying his store.
Everything fell into place quickly, as it does when God is leading. About two weeks later, everything was packed, moved, and we were open. There have been too many things that have happened that only God could have worked out…at just the precise time needed. Our grand opening was on Saturday, July 29th, 2006. All consignment from the Christian Outlet of Bel Air, MD, was transferred to For this Child. We are excited to see what God has planned for us!

• We homeschool our three oldest children, who will be in Kindergarten, 6th, and 8th grades.
We have been homeschooling our children since the fall of 2002, and are entering our 8th year. The biggest thing that we have learned from homeschooling is that Each Child is Different…what works for one child may not work with the next child. There are many great curriculums available for homeschool families. Each curriculum has advantages for different children. As parents, we know our children best, how they learn, and what our children are capable of doing. Parents know if their children need to be challenged more, or if they need to slow down to reinforce what may not have been understood. We love for families to come in and spend time looking through all the different curriculums, comparing, and searching for the one that will work best for each child. Please let us know if we can assist you in finding the best curriculum for your child.
